The Andean Bolivia Summer Study Abroad
July 7 - July 28

To be led by Dr. Kathleen Schroeder and Mr. Baker Perry
6 credit hrs. in Geography

"Geography of Andean Bolivia" (GHY 3530/5530) will focus on the physical and human dimensions of Andean environments, human environmental relationships and the applications of GIS in remote and mountainous settings.

"Globalization and Resistance in Andean Bolivia" (GHY 3531/5531) will place contemporary resistance movements in an historically geographical and global context focusing on the meaning of globalization to different sectors of Bolivian society.

Contemporary Cuban Culture and Politics
July 6 - August 2

3 credit hrs in IDS
Cost: $3020.00 (+ tuition)
Travel to Havana, Cuba and learn about Cuban politics and culture through a combination of lectures, readings, performances, and field trip experiences.

The political science course incorporates current events, history, political economy, and political theory.

In the IDS course, the professor and various Cuban artists and scholars will lead students in an exploration of five different aspects of Cuban culture (film, fine arts, music, literature, and dance).

Chiapas, Mexico

Liberation Theology and Indigenous Resistance in Chiapas, Mexico
July 15 - August 5

To be led by Mr. Fred Bahnson who will be field supervisor for the village level internship, and meetings with development and human rights NGOS and institutions that have relationships with the indigenours hosts, the Tzotzil Mayans.

3 hrs. credit in Phil & Rel course of the same name (taught by Mr. Fred Bahnson).

3 hrs credit for ANT 4900 field experience/internship (of which Dr. Jeff Boyer is the instructor of record and who will participate in recruiting and training).
The trip is open to approximately 12 students.
